Though I had listened to this many a times in 1970s, I was not aware aboout the details of the song. from the voice, I knew that the song was sung by Asha Bhonsle. From the racy tune, i guessed that the music of this song was composed by R D Burman. And that is all I was aware about this song.

Mere khayaalon ka tu hi khudaa

I was aware of a movie called “Alibaba Aur chaalis Chor” (1979) which was an Indo-Soviet Union Collaboration. But I was not aware that a movie on the same well known Arabian tale was prooduced in 1966 as well. This movie , titled “Alibaba and forty thieves” was a Basant pictures Production and it was directed by Homi Wadia. The movie had Sanjeev Kumar, L Vijaylaxmi, Veena, Tabassum,David Abraham, B.M.Vyas,Indira Billi, S.N.Tripathi, Kamal Mehra, Kishan Mehta etc in it.

There is one big loss that the society faces of the demise of the radio broadcasts, and the rise of television and other devices. In the decades of 60s and 70s, and maybe even 80s, when radio was the prime mover of entertainment, one could bank upon hearing it somehow, someplace, every place through the day. In the morning radios would be the wake up call at homes, with news, religious music, and film music playing till one left for school or work. Afternoons and evenings again, radio used to play news and music and one could hear the sounds emanating from many households. And yes, radio would play all day at small tea shops, paan shops, and general merchants, and if there was a cricket commentary being broadcast, it was not out of place to see large crowds at tea shops and paan shops.

“Tower House” (1962) is a B grade suspense movie which was a “Desh Productions” presentation, which was a production house owned by Nisaar Ahmad Ansari. N A Ansari is also the director and an important role in this movie which also had Shakeela, Ajit, Bhagwan, Madhumati, Neelofar, Protima Devi etc.
