Roshan (full name Roshanlal Nagrath) had a career spanning just under two decades. During his career as a music director, he composed music is 55 Hindi movies. His debut movie was “Neki Aur Badi”(1949) and his last movie was “Anokhi Raat”(1968) which was released a few months after his death in 1967.

After ‘yippiying’ the songs of 1957 ‘Anjali’ I start my journey forward, to complete Jaidev’s songs uncovered on this Blog. Film ‘Raat ke Rahi’ had two MDs. Bipin and Jaidev. Only two songs were composed by Jaidev and both were covered in this blog. Moving further, we come across three grate movies by Jaidev, viz ‘Hum Dono’, ‘Kinare Kinare’ and ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’. All these three films were listed in the list of ‘All Songs Covered’. So I come to 1967 film ‘Hamare Gham Se Mat Khelo’.

Normally, a music director superbly composing smooth, not noisy, but melodious tunes with Indian classical music base, Jaidev has composed a western music based foot tapping song as well. May be it was the demand of the film scenario!! And who is among the more adept artists to sing such songs? Asha, of course. So here it is a song from Jaidev in the voice of Asha but in an entirely different style. Just compare this to the previous posted song of Asha from the same film, same lyricist and by the same music director.

We in this blog celebrate all important musical landmarks that we reach. This writeup was supposed to celebrate a major landmark namely the 500th song of Naushad as a music director in this blog. It turns out that my calculation was long and Naushad had reached his 500 mark a few days ago in a writeup that I erroneously counted as 499th song for him. Nevertheless, I will use this 501th Naushad song as an opportunity to discuss the details of his songs composed during his 64 years long career.

Club dance in night club-it was a genre of song that began in early 1950s and became very popular. The song would typically be sung by Geeta Dutt or Asha Bhonsle and it would be picturised on a female dancer. She would be watched by shady looking characters up to no good and scheming against others present in the gathering. 🙂
