In 1944 Naushad had introduced folk music based tunes to bollywood movies with “Rattan” (1944). One day when S D Burman went to his kitchen, he found his cook singing a song from Rattan (“jab tumhi chale pardes”) with great relish-“jhoom jhoom ke”.

I have posted a song from “Bahaar” (1951) in the past. That song was the well known song “Sainyaa dil mein aana re” which was sung by Shamshad Begam and picturised on Vyjyanti Mala.

Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand were the three biggest male stars of Bollywood movies for nearly two decades. Considering that song and dance plays such important roles in Bollywood movies, including the movies in which these actors acted, it is interesting to note that Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand successfully dodged dancing in their movies.
