“Nehle Pe Dehla” (1976) was an Ajanta Arts production. It was produced by Sunil Dutt and directed by Raj Khosla. The movie saw the “Padosan” (1968) lead pair of Sunil Dutt and Saira Bano paired up once again in this movie. My all-time favourite Lata-Kishore duet is from the Famina Production’s Fareb (1953) ” Aa, mohabbat ki basti basaayenge hum”, in which the duo are at their soulful best in expressing the pangs of separation of the two lovers, so poignantly captured in Majrooh Sultanpuri’s breath-taking imagery “dekh dharti se aakaash hai kitni door!”

Rajesh Khanna had become an overnight sensation in late 1960s and early 1970s.The kind of adulation that he enjoyed in his heydays was something indescribable and that could only be known to those who lived in that era. I was fortnate to have lived in that era and seen it first hand.
