Mukesh and his Actors – 02
——————————————–

“Jumping Jack” Jeetendra is the protagonist of today’s post on Mukesh and his actors on screen.

Regarding singers giving playback to Jeetendra, arguably, Mukesh may not be the first name that comes to the mind like he does for Raj Kapoor, Manoj Kumar etc. But, if one looks at the initial part of his acting career, Mukesh looms large and that too with multiple genres of songs which remain popular to this day.

(Debutant Movie – Sandli-1985/1986)
———————————————————

Today’s song is from an obscure movie ‘Sandli-1985/1986’. I have no recollections of having read or being aware about a movie with this title. It was only because of HFGK Vol-VI (1981-1985) that I became aware of this movie. The name of singer Bhupinder Singh in the singer’s list for this movie piqued my interest to look for information and songs from this movie. However, it seems that no video of this movie is available and except one source (Bhupinder Singh topic & Myswar) I do not find the song links of this movie anywhere.

Today’s song is from the film ‘Naya Raasta’ (1953).

Today is 19th September, and this is my 14th post in this month already. Before this post, I had written 11 posts continually every day, but I had to break the marathon as the final work on my two new books came up and I had to attend to that. I completed that and work for my 7th book started immediately. Thus, writing posts and working on the books takes up my whole day, coupled with the routine household duties and other jobs. Sometimes I wish I had at least 30 hours in a day !

Rigorous searching by the Bombay Police did not succeed and he was declared a “missing person” forever !

Today’s song is from the film Shiv Bhakta-1955.

This film was made by A.V.M, Madras in their Madras Studio. This is actually the story of Bhakta Kannappa, on whom AVM had made the original Bilingual film in Telugu and Kannada in 1954. This Hindi remake was made in 1955. According to folklore, Lord Shiv ji also blessed Kannappa to be reborn in Kaliyuga as one of his greatest devotees, as Kannappa and to be liberated from birth and rebirth.
