Ghar ki raani hoon jee

It is a coincidence that the movies whose songs I am discussing today bear the same name as that of later day movies that I am more familiar with. Thus I discussed a song of “Heer Ranjha” (1948) and then “Sangam” (1954) while most people are more familiar with these movies of later vintage, viz “Heer Ranjha” (1970) and “Sangam” (1964) respectively. Likewise, when one talks of “Abhimaan”, the name of 1973 movie may come to the minds of most, including myself. But there was another movie of the same name that was produced in 1957.

Aayen to kaise aayen

I am aware of the movie called “Sangam” (1964), but I was not aware that another movie of the same name was produced exactly 10 years prior to “Sangam” (1964). This movie, i.e. “Sangam” (1954) had Kamini Kaushal, Shekhar, Shashikala, K. N. Singh, Murad, Rajrani, Chaman Puri, Ratan, Jeewan etc in it.

“Birhaa Ki Raat” (1950), which is an obscure movie by now, had actors like Dev Anand, Nargis, Madan Puri, Snehprabha Pradhan, Omprakash etc in it. Dev Anand and Nargis paired together ? I never knew that a movie like this existed.

I am aware of a movie called “Toote Khilaune” (1978) but I was not aware that a movie of the same name was produced some quarter of a century ago as well.

The movie has been forgotten, and with it the songs of this movie too have passed into oblivion, but that is not how it should be. I find that this movie has some very hummable songs in it.
