Though most songs in Bollywood movies are based on desi values, there are “westernised” songs in Bollywood as well. They are mainly songs which are sung in clubs/ parties, and are often accompanied by dance, either by someone like Helen, or a party dance where several people are seen dancing “phoren” style.

In 1944 Naushad had introduced folk music based tunes to bollywood movies with “Rattan” (1944). One day when S D Burman went to his kitchen, he found his cook singing a song from Rattan (“jab tumhi chale pardes”) with great relish-“jhoom jhoom ke”.

When there are many great songs in a movie, and there are several movies like that, it is easy to lose track of songs that one has posted and that are not yet posted.
