#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
———————————————————————

‘AANKHIN DEKHI-1978’ seems to be an obscure movie of its time as I could not find any video of this movie or its songs on internet. Not much information is avilable about the story of this movie or its trivia, except the details given in Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980). Rajinder Singh Bedi ji was the director of this movie. It was a ‘Dachi Films, Bombay’ presentation and it was passed by Censor Board on 18.12.1978.

Today’s song is a rare song, but it surely deserved to be a well-known song, but it was not destined to be so, seeing that the movie it was meant to belong to could not be released. The title of this movie is ‘Hamaari Kahaani’ from the decade of 1970s. Sources have mentioned the year of this movie as 1973.

‘Hamaari Kahaani’ or ‘Hamaari Kahaanee-1973’ was directed by B.V. Algikar for ‘Navprakash Chitra, Bombay’. Geet Kosh Vol-V mentions the cast of this movie as Master Shripad, Baby Ragini, Master Vinayak, Master Kiran, Sulochana, Abhi Bhattacharya, Dhoomal and others. The movie page for this movie lists three songs for this movie, leaving space for possibility of more songs in this movie. Two songs are written by Asad Bhopali, and one song is written by Jaan Nisar Akhtar. Music for this movie is composed by C. Arjun. ‘Shree Ram Bharat Milan-1965’, a mythological movie was directed by Manibhai Vyas for R.M. Art Productions, Bombay. It was produced by Ratan and Mohan and presented by Pt Madhur and S.P. Mangal. As mentioned by me in my earlier posts for this movie’s songs, this movie covers the story of Ramayana starting from Seeta Swayamwar, Kaikeyi seeking the throne for her son Bharat, and vanvaas to Shree Raam in lieu of the two boons that Raja Dashrath had promised her earlier, Bharat not accepting the throne and instead carrying Raam’s paadukaa and worshipping it, and finally Raja Raam’s coming back to Ayodhya after fourteen years of vanvaas.

Prithviraj Kapoor played Raja Dashrath, Nirupa Roy played Kaikeyi, Sulochana was Kaushalya, Anita Guha was Seeta, actor Mahipal was Raam’, and actor Rajkumar (from south?) was Bharat. They were supported by the other cast members viz Saraswati, Balakram, Bhuvna, B.M. Vyas, Sunanda, Niranjan Sharma, Padma Rani, Arvind, Vanmala, Joirabhai, Anand Tiwari, C.N. Kapoor, Shekhar Purohit and others.
