“Harishchandra Taramati-1963” was directed by B.K. Adarsh for ‘Adarshlok, Bombay’. It was a movie of mythological genre. It had Prithviraj Kapoor, Jaimala, B.M. Vyas, Tiwari, P. Kailash, Naazi, Helen, Ulhas, Babu Raje, Nasreen, Saraswati, child artiste Babloo and others. Story of this movie was written by Pandit Madhur and Vishwanath Pandey and screenplay was written by Naval Mathur. Dialogue writing was by Adarsh himself. The editing of this movie was done by I.M. Kunnu. Geet Kosh mentions eight songs for this movie (including one three part song). As mentioned above Kavi Pradeep wrote all songs for this movie. Music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. “Harishchandra Taramati-1963” is the only movie where lyricist Kavi Pradeep and composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal came together and collaborated musically.

Today 25th May 2025 is the twenty-seventh Remembrance Anniversary of composer Laxmikant Kudalkar (03.11.1937-2505.1998) of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo. He passed away at the age of sixty years. As a tribute to him we will have a song composed by them fifty years ago i.e. from 1975.

Today 24th May 2025 is the seventieth birthday of music director-lyricist Rajesh Roshan(born on 24.05.1955). His music composed for Hindi movies is part of growing years of people like me who were born in late sixties or early seventies. Many of his compositions have been pure nostalgia for me and same might be the case for many people like me. Rajesh Roshan has carved a niche for himself in the history of Hindi Film Music. There is a long list of his compositions that I like very much, and as and when possible I have also shared such songs on this blog.

Today’s Kavi Pradeep song is from the movie ‘Chandi Poojaa-1957’. This movie was directed by Raman B. Desai for ‘New Precious Pictures, Bombay’. Dinu M. Desai was the Producer of this movie. The cast of this movie had Nirupa Roy, Manhar Desai, Prem Adib, Shanta Apte, Malay Sarkar, Sapru, Pande, Sangeeta, Narbada Shankar, Hansraj, Sudheer, Moni Chatterjee and others. ‘Chandi Pujaa or Chandi Poojaa-1957’ was passed by Censor Board on 19.07.1957. Geet Kosh Vol-III (1951-1960) mentions in the foot-note on the page of this movie that this movie ‘Chandi Pujaa’ was the last movie of actress Shanta Apte.
