Dev Anand, who left for heavenly abode yesterday (3th december 2011) in London, was a legend among legends in the annals of Indian movie industry. He started his career in 1940s as an actor and quickly went on to become one of the big three heroes of 1950s, other two being Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar. Dev Anand typically played suave, urban, dashing and stylish characters in his movies. He got his first break in Prabhat theatre’s “Hum Ek Hain” (1946). He got his big break in “Ziddi” (1948) and that enabled him to get a foothold in the industry. Soon, he set up his own production house, viz Navketan too.

“Tumhaare Liye” (1978) is a recent movie by the standards of this blog, and it came at a time when I was fully awrae and alive to the Hindi movies that were being released those days. But I was not much aware of this movie. So it shows that this movie was one of those boring art movies that most movie goers would not touch with a barge pole.

There are some songs that I heard in my younger days and liked them without having much clue about their details. with time, these songs were forgotten. I have become reacquainted with several of these songs again after a passage of three decades or so. And I am not the only one.
