“CID” (1956) as well as “CID 909” (1967) had music by the same music director, viz O P Nayyar. Unlike “CID” (1956), “CID 909” was a B grade movie though. It was a Bindu Kala Mandir Presentation, which was directed by Muhammad Hussai. The movie had up and coming B grade actors namely Feroz Khan and Mumtaz in lead roles, with Helen, Rajen Haksar, Brahm Bharadwaj, Ram Mohan, Rajen Kapoor, Tuntun, Bela Bose, B. In 1960s and 1970s, movie halls used to hire a rickshaw in which they would install an announcer with a PA system as well as a record player. The rickshaw would be covered with the cardboard hoardings of handmade posters of the movie.

Most music directors of B grade movies tend to remain confined to B grade music throughout their careers. But the music director duo of Laxmikant Pyarelal were no ordinary music director duo. They began their career as independent music directors with B grade movies/ small budget movies, but they created such stunning music in these movies that they quickly joined the ranks of the most sought after music directors in the Hindi movie music industry.
