Namkeen (1982) is the story of an old woman (Waheeda Rehman) and her three daughters (Sharmila Tagore, Shabana Azmi and Kiran Vairale), into which the truck driver Gherulal (Sanjeev Kumar) crashes in. Yesterday (12 july 2013) brought us the sad news that Pran, the legendary villain of 1950s and 60s who then turned a legendary character actor of later decades had breathed his last. Pran Krishan Sikand (12 february 1920- 12 july 2013) made his debut in Hindi movies with “Khaandaan” (1942) as a hero. This movie was produced in Lahore, his favourite place. He subsequently made a mark as a hero in Lahore movie circles.
