There was a time in my life when I thought no end about myself. Regarding bollywood movies of course. Then the bubble burst when I came across this blog a few little years back. Well the situation was that my Peevesie going through some songs which Atul had posted back then, and I fumbled on the tune even if the title of the song seemed familiar. Much like what happened a while back when Sudhir ji posted a song from the film ‘Wahaan Ke Log’ from 1967. The lead line in the song is “Hum Tujhse Mohabbat Kar Ke Sanam“. And I promptly said “Rote Bhi Rahe Haste Bhi Rahe” as the cross line. Only to discover a different and a (relatively) new song. (It is a different matter that my devar feels that I know all the bollywood songs recorded ever. HAHA!!)

MEENA (1944) appears to be an obscure movie at least to me as I had never heard nor came across the name of this film until I found a multiple version song from the film a few days back. The film was produced under the banner of Bharat Pictures and was directed by Phani Majumdar. The star cast included Hansa Wadkar, Vasanti, Master Shashi Kapoor (Sr.), Dixit, Gulab, Ratan Piya, Anand etc. There were 7 songs (including a multiple version) in the film, all penned by Pandit Phani which were set to music by Hari Prasanna Das.

This is the rarest of the rare song of Rafi, from an unreleased film of the seventies ‘Ek Bulbula Paani Ka’, for which I do not have any details. Even HFGK is silent about it. This is the only song from the film which is available.

“Laal E Yaman” (1933) was the first movie of JBH Wadia that he produced under his banner of Wadia Movietone. The movie had Jaal Khambhata, Karim Jah, Feroz Dastoor, Master Mohammad, Sayani, Nazeer, B Khan, Baman Shroff, Padma, Mohini, Kamla, Mayuri, Miss Leela etc in it.

Good intentions are always the undoing. I am sure you would have also experienced this. मेरे साथ तो ये बहुत होता है. Take the case of this series itself. The second song is being posted today. When I initiated this series on 30th September with the song “Nigaahon Se Chhup Kar Kahaan Jaaiyega”, I had all the intentions to post one song at least every other day if not every day. Peak hours pose tougher challenge with dozens trying to enter the rather narrow entrance of the bus at the same time. On some occasions a comic situation arises when two people get struck at the door entrance when the sum total of their waistlines is slightly more than the entrance width. For a moment (which to others behind seems like several minutes) there is some sort of air-lock or more appropriately a waistline-lock.

Today’s song is perhaps the first ever song of S D Batish that I am discussing here. Not that I avoided his songs or his songs were not good enough for me, but may be all his popular songs were already discussed here by others and I just did not get any of his songs for my purpose. It is purely a coincidence. Actually, I have lot of respect for S D Batish, who did a marvellous job of promoting Indian Music in UK and USA. He is one of the rare people who left the film world, but continued serving the Music by turning a corner in his life.

Today (5 august 2015)is the birthday of Kajol.
And I find myself writing a post on this blog for this occasion. 🙂
Of all the songs I’ve written about here, this has got to be the most recent. Most of the songs I post are from the 70s or earlier, with just the odd 1980s song.
And this one is of the 1990s.
But I want to post this for three reasons.
