“Ek Do Teen” (1953) was a Shorey Films Production. After the success of his “Ek Thhi Ladki” (1949), Roop Shorey made “Ek Do Teen” (1953) with a similar story line and similar team. He in fact would make movies on the same storyline for the rest of his movie making career till 1970s, but would never be able to replicate the success of “Ek Thhi Ladki” (1949) again.

This film “Laal Quila” (1960) would have been forgotten but for the two immortal ghazals composed by S. N. Tripathi, and sung by Mohammed Rafi. These ghazal’s ‘lagtaa nahin hai dil meraa ujde dayaar mein’ and ‘na kisi ki aankh ka noor hoon na kisi ke dil ka qaraar hoon ‘ have a place in the hearts of urdu poetry readers be they lay person or scholors.

“Mother India” (1957) was a movie that was released before I was born. So this movie is from an era before my time. I first watched this movie in late 1970s in its nth re run in a dilapidated movie hall. Moreover I was not much into old movies in those days and I went to watch this movie so that I may be able to say that I had seen this movie. 🙂
