A few days back, I had mentioned in one of my articles in the Blog that I regard 1940s as the transitional phase for Hindi film music which paved the way for the arrival of the golden period of Hindi film music in 1950s and 1960s. The music director who triggered the ‘renaissance’ period of the 1940s in Hindi film music was Master Ghulam Haider. His song compositions in ‘Khazaanchi’ (1941) revolutionised Hindi film music. One of the popular songs from the film Saawan ke nazaare hain (Khazaanchi) was a trend setter not only for Hindi film music but also for the picturisation of the song.

I came to know about a film made in 1940 with a title ‘Intezaar’ through Filmindia magazine. Later, it was given a new title ‘Sneh Bandhan’ (1940) and was released with the same name. I did not evince much interest in knowing about the film until I came across the mp3 clip of a beautifully worded song from the film.

When this blog was started on 19 july 2008, I had no idea what was in store for the blog in future. My own assessment was that I would discuss 2500 songs and that would be that because all songs worth covering would have been covered by then.

In our blog, we have several informal projects going on simultaneously. One of these projects is introduring songs from movies that are not yet covered in the blog. As of now, this blog has songs from 3522 movies. I consciously try to post one song from a “new” movie every day.

“Kahaan Gaye”(1946) was as obscure a movie as any can be. The only informatio that HFGK comes up with about this movie is that this movie was produced by Maheshwari Pictures, Bombay and that this movie had more than six songs in it, but mukhdas of only six of them are known. No other information is available.

“Nai Taaleem”(1949) is one of the most obscure moveies of all time. Apart from its name and year of release, very little information is available about this mvie. HFGK does not give any information about the number of songs in this movie.
