NAGAD NARAYAN (1943) was produced in Hindi and Marathi by Baburao Pendharkar under the banner of New Huns Pictures. The Marathi title of the film was ‘Paisa Bolto Aahe’ (1943). Both the versions of the films were directed by Vishram Bedekar. The star cast in the Hindi version included Leela Desai, Baburao Pendharkar, Kusum Deshpande, Nayampalli, Masood, Pratima Devi, Shakir etc.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Dashehraa-1956’. This is a rare song which has been made available more than a year back on internet. Regulars on this blog would have noted that there were many songs that were considered as ‘not traceable’ or were hitherto unavailable on internet are coming up gradually in recent years or more precisely in last couple of years. During the ‘regulars meet at Mumbai’ in 2023 I had made this observation during discussions about such ‘untraceable’ songs. On this blog our senior Shree Sudhir jee had taken up a series for the ‘missing films’ of the decade of ‘sixties’ earlier. At that time only one song from such movies (around hundred in numbers) was dug up and posted. I have noted that for all such movies now their other songs have also come up and posted either by music companies or passionate music lovers. This is ultimately going to increase the number of songs available with us and in turn reducing the number of songs that were considered as lost or un-traceable.

The film Ghar ki Rani-1940 was made by Huns Pictures of master Vinayak. It was directed by him. This was a Bi-lingual film, made in Marathi as Ardhangi( अर्धांगी ) or Better half and in Hindi. The cast was Leela Chitnis, Vinayak, Meenakshi, Kusum Deshpande, Baburao Pendharkar, Damuanna Malvankar, Dada Salvi etc. The music was by Dada Chandekar.

The title of this movie is ‘Samasya’. It was passed by the censor board on 29.11.1975. Geet Kosh V (1971-1980) mentions this movie as belonging to the genre of ‘social movies’. It was directed by Dayabhai Bhakt for ‘Akik Chitra, Bombay’. The cast of this movie had Madhuchhanda, Pawan Dutt, Chitra Sundaram, Atam Prakash, Sunil Dhawan, D.S. Mehta, Rakesh Jaimani, Vikas Bali, Pratibha Matkari, Anjali Devi and others. Sajjan, Jagirdar, Pallavi Mehta and Damodar Shah had made special appearances in this movie.
