I am aware of two movies called “College Girl”. One was a movie of early 1960s featuring Shammi Kapoor. The other was a movie of late 1970s featuring Sachin. Though both these movies are forgotten, both of them had some nice songs in them.

“Mere Jeewan Saathi” (1972) is a movie starring Rajesh Khanna and Tanuja, the hit pair of “Haathi Mere Saathi”. This movie, like most Rajesh Khanna movies, was a musical blockbuster, where almost all songs went on to become very popular.

It may be difficult to imagine today, but villains like Premnath and Ajit started their filmy careers as heroes in late 1940s-early 1950s, and they in fact acted as heroes for almost a decade before becoming villains. As far as Premnath was concerned, he was a hero in A grade movies too.

Though boy and girl falling in love and singing love songs is a standard theme in Bollywood movies, such an activity is not as easy to carry out in real life India as is made out in Bollywood movies. Many of R D Burman’s songs in 1970s were fast paced songs that were loud, party songs. But when the sitauation demanded, R D Burman could come up with soft, sensitive romantic songs too.

“Chhoomantar” (1956) was a movie in which Johny Walker was the hero. I have realised that this movie had some nice songs composed by O P Nayyar and I have in fact posted quite a few songs from this movie already.
