After completing the recording, Mukesh had commented – people will remember you for this song. He was talking to the music director, and was expressing his emotions having just rendered a beautiful composition. The music director – Daan Singh. The song – “Wo Tere Pyaar Ka Gham” (from the film ‘My Love’ (1970)). Prophetic words, in some ways, yes, because this song is still on the list of favorites of the lovers of this music. But does everyone remember Daan Singh in connection with this song – I am not sure.

The debut film for today is ‘Bhakt Prahlad’, the quintessential historical / mythological saga that has been repeated so often across the decades. I would say that, along with the tale of Raja Harishchandra, the story of Bhakt Prahlad probably forms the most times filmed pair of historical / mythological tales. As per Geet Kosh, the story of Bhakt Prahlad has been presented on the silver screen no less than six times – the years in chronological order being 1932, 1934, 1946, 1959, 1965 and 1967. If remembering important dates is likened to batting in cricket then I must admit that I am a tailender batsman on the lines of B S Chandrashekhar, who found it easier to take wickets than score runs. In his test career, he took 242 test wickets but scored only 167 runs. 🙂
