“Ghunghroo”(1952) was produced by Rajendra Jain and directed by Hiren Bose for Filmkaar Limited, Bombay. The movie had Om Prakash, Sumitra Devi, Kuldip Kaur, K N Singh, Murad, Badri Prasad etc in it.
Prints of “Ghunghroo”(1952) are not available and so it is difficult to find the story of the movie. But our inhouse movie researcher Mr Sadanand Kamath jee searched far and wide and pieced together the story of the movie which is given below:-

“Dharm Patni-1953” was directed by Ramchandra Thakur for ‘Harishchandra Pictures’. It was produced by Harishchandra Rao and it was passed by Censor Board on 21.11.1953. It has Nirupa Roy, Mahipal, Moti Sagar, Durga Khote, Yashodhara Katju, Neeroo, Mona, Kumar and Gope, Bhagwan Das, Dalpat, Eruch Tarapore, Hamid Majnu, Dewaskar, Maqbool, Deepak Naidu, Parvati Bai, Anwari, Vijaybala and R.S. Diwan. Actor Bhagwan made a guest appearance in this movie and was mentioned in the titles of the movie as ‘The Great Guest Artist’. Story & Dialogues of this movie was written by Dhananjay and Screenplay was written by Darshan. Editing of this movie was done by Baburao Barodkar. This movie has six songs which were written by Bharat Vyas (four songs) and Shewan Rizvi (two songs). Music for this movie as composed by Jamal Sen. The playback singers for this movie are Madhubala Zaveri, Asha Bhonsle, Mubarak Begam and Sulochana Kadam.

It was in early may (5 may 2026 to be precise) when the blog reached its previous century (blog post number 20200). Today,we are still in the month of may 2026, and we find ourselves reaching next century (blog post number 20300). Two centuries in the same month ! It is like two full moon days in the same month. 🙂
It must be said that reaching two centuries in a month was fairly common for the blog, but the last time this feat was achieved was in February 2018. Prior to that it was achieved in March 2017 and January 2015. This was very common before that. There were as manty as 34 such occasions before 2015. The month of April 2013 was extra special. As many as three century posts were published that month (on 1 april, 14 april and 28 april)! Those were the days when we used to score centuries in 13 and 14 days. The fastest century in the blog is scored in 11 days (song post number 4600 on 9 september 2011).
25 days for a century at a rate of 4 songs a day is quite decent by our present rate of posting. Unlike in the past, most posts now a days are guest posts. It shows that the blog has now firmly become an online collaboration of likeminded music lovers.

#the Decade of Fifties – 1951 – 1960 #
The song being covered in this post is from the movie ‘Indraasan-1952’. Other title of this movie is ‘Ekadashee Mahimaa’. Two songs from this movie have been posted on the blog so far. I guess that the songs from this movie were difficult to find earlier but now some songs of this movie have become available online. We are grateful to the music lovers who have uploaded these songs.
“Indraasan” was directed by Raja Nene for ‘Greenland Pictures’. It was produced by Mafatlal D. Shah and it was passed by Censor Board on 08.05.1952. This movie had Ranjana, Prem Adib, Ishwar Lal, Nand Kishore, Babu Raje, Bheem, Urvashi, Roopmati, Master Ratan, Paro, Durga Khote and others. This movie has nine songs written by Ramesh Gupta (six songs), Nilkanth Tiwari (two songs), and Pt. Motilal (one song).

Today, May 26, 1926, is the 34th Remembrance Day of producer-actor, Ashalata Biswas. On this occasion, I have a picked up one of the songs from ‘Baazooband’ (1954) which was produced by her and the last film under her banner, Variety Productions, by which time she was separated from her husband, Anil Biswas.
Ashalata Biswas (17/10/1917 – 26/05/1992), born as Mehrunissa Bhagat in a Gujarati Muslim family based in Bhuj, started her filmy career as an actress in ‘Sati Toral’ (1935) with the screen name of ‘Ashalata’. While working in the film, ‘Manmohan’ (1936), Ashalata and Anil Biswas, the film’s music director got married. She continued to work in films which included ‘Jwaala’ (1938) with Chandramohan, ‘Premveer’ (1938) with Master Vinayak, ‘Deepak’ (1940) with Prithviraj Kapoor, ‘Zindagi’ (1940), ‘Sukhi Jeewan’ (1942), ‘Chaar Aankhen’ (1945) among 20 odd films till 1949.
