Though “Shaitaan Mujrim” (1980) is a movie of recent vintage by the standards of this blog, little information is available about this movie. From the title, it appears to be a C grade horror movie of the kind that generally struggled to get released and failed miserably at the box office. It appears that this movie had Rakesh Khanna, Jyoti Matwankar, Dev Kumar, Raza Murad, Mohan Choti, Madan Puri, Seema Kapoor etc in it.

It is now been forty one years that she passed away, and all of just 42 years of age. The singer who became a legend in her own lifetime, short as it may have been, just the same as her celebrated spouse. The readers of this blog are by now well aware that the blog has completed five years today (19 july 2013). I did not need to announce it though. A few regulars were already aware of this occasion. Another regular, Avinash Scrapwala then pointed it out to her that the birthday (oops, birth anniversary 🙂 ) of the blog fell on 19 july. 🙂

Much have been written about him since late 1960s when he burst into the Hindi movie scene and reigned supreme. Whatever can be said and written about him has been written. Since I have to discuss a Rajesh Khanna song on this occasion, so let me also add some of my observations about Rajesh Khanna, with the full benefit of hindsight.

I always thought it was necessary to have some degree of writing pedigree to claim to have the famed “writer’s block” problem but, if the last few days are any indication, apparently this affliction is not limited to the writing community.

“Ye Kis Ki Yaad Aa Gayee, Bahaar Ban Ke Chhaa Gayee” – a lovely rendition by Suraiyya, composed by Hansraj Behl, and the verses created by Anjum Jaipuri. This, and many more such wonderful ghazals and geets have come from the pen of this talented poet, who was equally at home with the adbi shaayari in chaste Urdu, and the songs that he wrote in unsullied Hindi for the many religious and historical films that he wrote for.
