Here is the third Rafi solo beginning with the alphabet ‘C’. And what is better than C for ‘chaand’. The hit song from ‘ Ham kisi se kam nahin ‘ (1977) is composed by R D Burman and written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. The iconic song in this film Kya hua tera waada is already posted. One more song viz. Ye ladka haaye allah kaisa hai deewaana has also been posted. I have just revisited that page.

Today (31 july 2013) is Mumtaz’s 66 th birth anniversary. I find it an interesting coincidence that her peak in Hindi movies coincided with the peak of Rajesh Khanna. Mumtaz bowed out of movie industry just as Rajesh Khanna lost his crown in mid 1970s.

My first introduction to Uttam Kumar was way back in the childhood years when, for a long time, I used to confuse a lot between him and Biswajeet. It was in the years when watching television was a new adventure every day. One would scour around the neighborhood and get inside a friend’s or a familiar person’s home. Of course, as an uninvited intruder, one had to watch whatever was being telecast. In any case, Doordarshan was the only channel and there was no other option :). Some known programs would be a fixture that everyone watched. At other times, one would just intrude into whatever was playing on the screen.

This article is the 8400th song post in the blog.

People who are into watching Hindi movies must have noticed that the lead actors do not seem to do anything for their livelihood in Hindi movies. The hero in these movies is seen wooing the leading lady, first by singing a teasing song, then a romantic song. Then there would be a separation song, a misunderstanding song, a reconciliation song etc. Thinking about his/her love interest appears to be the full time job with Hindi movie lead actors which certainly cannot be one’s means of livelihood unless their names happen to be Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, who actually earned their livelihood by this method.
