I have barely heard of this movie called “Ek Baar Muskura Do” (1972). this movie sank without a trace, and with that the aspirations of Debu Mukherji to become a Bollywood hero came to naught.

There are many critics who believe that Bollywood movies are meant to be watched for relaxation rather than for taxing one’s brain by making one to think.
I agree with that view whenever I come across movies that have far too much melodrama in it.

Joy Mukherji, Debu Mukherji and Somu Mukherji were brothers and they were from a well connected family. Their father was Shashdhar Mukherji, a big name in Bollywood movie making. Their uncle (chacha) was Subodh Mukherji, the well known movie producer. From their mother’s side, they were connected to Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anup Kumar, who were their mamas.

To call “Putlibai” (1972) a B grade movie would be paying too much of a compliment to this movie. This movie was such a low budget and low profile movie that few people who lived in those times were aware of the existence of this movie.
