‘Sitam’ (1991) was produced by Vikram Makandar (Vikram, the actor) who also wrote the story. The film was directed by the then husband-wife duo – Aruna-Vikas. The cast included Naseeruddin Shah, Smita Patil, Vikram, Arun Sarnaik, Keith Stevenson, Sulabha Deshpande, Manju Asrani, Vikas Desai, Master Hith (Aruna-Vikas’s son) etc. The film is said to be based on a real-life story which happened during a football match. I had a collection of those books along with a few editions of Champak, Phantom, Mandrake, Tarzan & Amar Chitra Katha, like most children of those times.
