Most of the songs in this blog are from 1970s and earlier. It does not mean that I do not like songs from 1980s and later. It is just that I lost track of Bollywood music from 1980 onwards. Also, trends like blanant plagiarism, lyrics losing their importance, creation of songs in bad taste, demise of many legends from the scene, etc meant that the music of later decades does not appeal to me as much as the music of earlier decades.

In this blog, I often talk of quality, class, originality etc while discussing songs. But there are occasions when all these admirable qualities take the back seat and we like to listen to songs that hardly seem to possess such high ideals. These are songs that are purely time pass low brow songs, shamelessly plagiarised, with lyrics that are no great shakes and may be even in poor taste, and with picturisation to match. I have heard this song and I liked it. Of course I had no idea which movie it was from and who were the composer, lyricist, singer, actor etc. It turns out that the movie is called Criminal (1995) and it was a remake of some Telugu movie, and perhaps that too was called Criminal.
The song is quite hummable. Credit says singers are Kumar Shanu and Alka Yagnik. I can identify Kumar Shanu’s voice, It appears to me that he tried to sing this Hindi song with South Indian accent, trying to copy the voice of S. P. Balasubramaniam . No idea why he tried to do that. The female voice did not sound like Alka Yagnik by any stretch of imagination, so I checked and gathered that the voice belongs to K S Chitra.
