Blog Day :

4705 Post No. : 16409

Today’s song is from a very recent movie ‘Salaami-1993’.

This movie had made its debut on the blog during its early days and that was on 30.11.2008. It means that the second song of this movie is now appearing after a gap of 12 years, 6 months, and 6 days or after 4570 days. (including 04.06.2021).

This movie had some nice songs in it and the most popular song ‘chehra kya dekhte ho’ has already been posted on the blog.

Today we listen to another well known song from this movie which is a multiple version songs in the voices of Pankaj Udhas and Alka Yagnik.

“Salaami-1993” was directed by Sharukh Sultan for ‘Tess Mirza Films Pvt Ltd.’ It was ‘Venus Records and Tapes Pvt Ltd’ presentation.

This movie was produced by Tess Mirza. It had Ayyub Khan, Samyukta and Raushni Jafery (both debutant), with Kabir Bedi, Beena, Goga Kapoor, Lalita Shukla and Saeed Jafery. They were supported by Brij Kishore, Virendra Singh, Kishore, Vinkoo Bhalla, Romi, Binder Agarwal.

Sharukh Sultan the director of this movie was also the write of this movie. Dialogues of this movie were written by Mushtaq Jalili and Sharukh Sultan. Editing of this movie was done by Sakharam Borse.

This movie was passed by censor board on 23.11.1993.

Music for this movie was composed by Nadeem-Sharvan.
This movie had nine songs (including two multiple version songs) written by Sameer, Madan Pal, Surendra Sathi and Anwar Sagar.

Singers Asha Bhonsle, Kumar Sanu, Pankaj Udhas, Alka Yagnik and Kavita Krishnamurthy had given their voices to the songs of this movie.

As mentioned above one song from this movie was posted on the blog on 30.11.2008.

Today’s song is a multiple version song, where the solo version is sung by Pankaj Udhas and the duet version is sung by Alka Yagnik with Pankaj Udhas. Lyrics are written by Sameer and music is composed by Nadeem-Shravan.

In picturisation of the solo song we can see Ayyub Khan lip syncing to the voice of Pankaj Udhas, actress Samyukta (I guess) and others. I am unable to guess the other actor in this song.

While video of the solo version is available, I could not locate the video of the duet version.

I would request readers who have watched this movie to throw more light on this movie and its songs.

Let us now listen to today’s song (s 😊 )

dil jab se toot gayaa

dekhe mud ke jahaan
hai wahaan bebasi
bekhudi ban gayi
ab meri zindagi
saath teraa chhoot gayaa
kaise kahen ae kaise jeete hain ae
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain

tera vaada thhaa jhoothaa aa
pyaar ka rishta tootaa
tera vaada thhaa jhoothaa
pyaar ka rishta tootaa aa
toone pardaa hataaya
asli chehra dikhaaya
bewafaa be-khabar
sangdil
be-reham
sochte hain tujhe kya kahen sanam ham
kisko pataa
kisko khabar
zakhmon ko ham kaise seete hain
kaise kahen ae kaise jeete hain ae
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain

dil jab se toot gayaa
kaise kahen ae kaise jeetein hain ae
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain
kabhi jyaada kabhi kam peete hain

VINTAGE SHAMSHAD BEGUM….Song No. 3
——————————————-

Today’s song is from film Namumkin-46. It is a duet of Shamshad Begum and K.S.Ragi.

We are accustomed to see only the usual regular well known names, but when some new or unknown name appears, our brows are raised and we wonder who this singer is. Same thoughts came to my mind when I first came across his name few years back. One would immediately think of the singers in a Gurudwara, who are also called Raagis. I tried and tried very hard, but except that he hailed from Andhra pradesh, I could not get any other information on him. Then one fine morning K S Ragi’s daughter appeared on RMIM forum and gave some more information. Though even this was very meagre, still at least something was there.

Most of the songs in this blog are from 1970s and earlier. It does not mean that I do not like songs from 1980s and later. It is just that I lost track of Bollywood music from 1980 onwards. Also, trends like blanant plagiarism, lyrics losing their importance, creation of songs in bad taste, demise of many legends from the scene, etc meant that the music of later decades does not appeal to me as much as the music of earlier decades.
