Dev Anand directed something like 20 films. However, only two of these, Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971) and Des Pardes (1978) survived at the box office. In fact, “Des Pardes” (1978) was his last acknowledged hit.

“Teri Baahon Mein” (1984) was a Kalptaru Films production. It was produced by Pramod Poddar and directed by Umesh Mehra. The movie had Mohanish Behl, Ayesha Shroff, Parikshit Sahni, Dev Kumar, Prem Chopra, Navin Nischol, Kalpana Iyer, Mac Mohan, with Parveen Babi and Mithun Chakraborty in special appearances. I recall that this movie was touted to be inspired from “The Blue Lagoon”. When most small time Hindi movie makers wanted to get “inspired” from western movies then they reminded me of the Hindi saying-“Kahaan Raja Bhoj Kahaan Gangu Teli”.

Today (26 september) is the 89th birth anniversary of Dev Anand (26 september 1923- 3 december 2011). On this occasion, here is a song from “Lootmaar” (1980). In fact this song has two versions. The first version is sung mainly by Kishore Kumar, with voices of Varsha Bhonsle and Shivangi Kolhapure also figuring. This version is lip synced by Dev Anand, Tina Munim and a kid playing Dev Anand’s son. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify this kid.
PS-Now I have read at wikipedia that this kid was Tina Munim’s real brother called Manan.

The first solo song that Kishore Kumar sang in his playback career was for Dev Anand in the movie “Ziddi” (1948) under the music direction of Khemchand Prakash. Then S D Burman, his mentor used his good offices to get Kishore Kumar to give plaback for Raj Kapoor in “Pyaar” (1950). But from that time onwards, Kishore Kumar sang for himself or for Dev Anand, in case it was a Dev Anand movie with S D Burman’s music direction. I can think of one more exception during 1950s though where Kishore Kumar sang for someone other than himself or Dev Anand. It was the iconic song Din hai suhaana aaj pahli taarikh hai(Pahli taarikh) (1954) which was picturised on Raja Nene.
