Sunny (1984) got released after Sunny Deol’s debut Betaab. The producer, his father himself, wanted to cash on the success of Betaab, for which he repeated the team again. Unfortunately this time the success didn’t repeat itself. Unfortunately, with the film also sank the wonderful musical score by R D Burman.

“Mahal” (1969) , not to be confused with “Mahal” (1949) was a Roopkala Pictures production. It was produced by Mahipat Ray Shah and directed by Shankar Mukherji. The movie had Dev Anand, Asha Parekh, Farida Jalal,D K Sapru, Azra,Abhi Bhattacharya, Kamal Mehra, Sudhir, David Abraham, Sunder, Siddhu, Rajan Haksar, Ratnamala, Pratima Devi, Naina, Ram Singh, R P Kapoor, Manju, Uma Dutt, Nadir, Rehana Vakil, Murad etc in it.

Teesra Kaun has a plot, which sounds to be very Hitchcockian. It is of a man on the run after being falsely accused of robbery cum murder. One would think, such a story wouldn’t give much of an opportunity for songs. But this being a Hindi film, there are in fact many beautiful songs in it. The music director being R D Burman. This song particularly doesn’t sound R D Burmanesque. I would have thought it to be from Shankar-Jaikishan.

It has been quite a while since I last talked about my dogs. I have in fact so many things to talk about them that I do not know where to begin.
I had discussed it in the past that my dogs, especially Chhote, the younger one would run away from the home. Sometimes Bhhole, the senior of the two , would also run behind Chhote, mainly to accompany him.

Dev Anand’s dedication and commitment to the medium and the industry is well visible to all. Past the seventies when the box office appeal had shifted to the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shashi Kapoor, Jeetendra, Sanjeev Kumar, and Vinod Khanna etc., he continued to be at the helm of film making, and continued to produce and direct films with an uncanny regularity, all the way till his departure from this world. Majority of his later films did not attract much critical or commercial attention, but nonetheless, that did not deter him from his work and his passion.
