Today (5 september) is Salil Chaudhary’s death anniversary. Salil Chaudhary was one Hindi movie music. Or it would be more appropriate to say that he was a pioneer of Indian movie music. He composed music in movies of as many as ten languages. Majority of these movies were in Bangla, Hindi and Malayalam though.

“Aawaaz” (1956) is a Mehboob Production movie. This movie was directed by Zia Sarhadi. The sttar cast of this movie had names like Rajendra Kumar, Nalini Jaywant, Usha Kiran, Zul Vellani, Anwar, N. Hussain, Mukri, Murad, Leela Chitnis, Jagdeep in it.

Hindi movies often have songs in which two men, both small time ruffians but with heart of gold would go around the town (Bombay) and sing a song. One well known song of this genre was Do bechaare binaa sahaare (Victoria number 203) .
