Today’s song is from the film Guru Ghantal-1956. This is a very out of the way and uncommon title for a film. In 1937 also there was a film of the same title. When I was writing a post on a song from that film, a few years ago, I first encountered this word. I found out the meaning of this word then. If you separate the 2 parts of this composite word, you will get separate meanings like Guru=Teacher and Ghantal=Big sounding bell. However, together this word has a totally different meaning. It means a Cheater, a person who seems simple but is a person with bad intention of cheating !

Today’s song is from the film Kismet Palat Ke Dekh-1961.

The film was a Stunt film, with the most unlikely and unusual cast. It was directed by a small-time character actor- C.S. aka Chandra Shekhar Dubey. This was the only film he ever directed and rightly so, looking at its result. The Music Director was Gunjan aka G.M.Durrani. The cast included Anup Kumar, Pritibala aka Zeb Rehman, Durga Khote, Daljit, Iftikhar, Tiwari, Majnu, Polson, Dalda, Jeevankala and others.

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # # Dhan Daulat-1980#
——————————————

Today’s song is from the ‘1980’ movie ‘Dhan Daulat’. I never watched this movie in those growing years of mine. And later also I did not get any opportunity to watch it on video or elsewhere. I had noted that this movie was made available on an OTT platform, may be few months back, but now it has been removed from there due to ‘rights’ issue. Moviegoers and music lovers are aware of the most popular song from this movie i.e. the song ‘jeenaa kyaa ajee pyaar binaa’. I too remember to have frequently heard this song either on radio or loudspeakers then. From the remaining songs of this movie the song ‘ho jaaye phir us din kaa jo waadaa hai’, & ‘khudkushi karne dil mein iraadaa kar liya maine’ are also familiar to me. I became aware of the song ‘shikwaa na tumse koi’ when it was posted on the blog under the blog ten-year challenge in 2020. The fifth song from this movie is the song under discussion. I do not remember to have listened to this song before corona years 2020. I have been listening to this song many times ever since and I ave like this song very much.

Today’s song is from a so called “social” film made by Filmistan. The story of this film clearly indicates that it was a “Costume” film about the usual King, Queen and a wicked Vazir. I am surprised how they could do such a blunder. Surely, the posters would have given away the real Genre of the film and no one would have accepted this film as a Social film, as claimed by Filmistan. Maybe it was an error by HFGK itself.

Continuing my series of Kamsune/Ansune of Asha Bhosle, I present to you the 5th song of this series which is a thirakta machalta geet of Asha Ji from the 1968 movie Jung Aur Aman.

The song is ”Nigahon Mein Mohabbat Ka” penned by Hasrat Jaipuri and composed by the extremely talented but unsuccessful G S Kohli, the assistant to master composer OP Nayyar for a long time. And therefore, many a times when you hear a song composed by Kohli, you get a feeling that you have heard a similar sounding song. That possibly is a song composed by his Guru.
