As bicycle songs go, this must be the ultimate bicycle song. In this song, people ,led by Johny Walker, are riding bicycles and going in a procession singing this song. I have not watched the movie, but what I can deduce from the picturisation and the lyrics is that they are raising their voices against a person in authority who is using his public office for personal gains. So such things happened in those days also. 🙂

In Hindi movies, there used to be a case where a character would decide to leave his/her family/neighbours/friends for ever, not knowing where he/she would go. I call such songs as “chal ud ja re panchhi” song, in honour of the iconic song from “Bhaabhi” (1957) that depicted this scenario.

“Stree”(1961) is a movie produced by V Shantaram and starring V Shantaram,Sandhya, Parda Chawan, Mumtaz etc. This movie, as well as its music may have been forgotten, but when I discovered the music of this movie some one year back, I loved it. And by now I have discussed as many as three songs from this movie.

“Devtaa” (1956) is a movie that was one of the earlier Hindi movies produced by a South Indian Production house. The lead actors of this movie were South Indians too. Gemini Ganeshan, Anjali Devi and Vyjyanti Mala had played the lead roles in this movie.
