With a film title as ‘Haaye Mera Dil’ and with Kishore Kumar and IS Johar in the star cast, one can be assured that the film is going to be a comedy about romantic interests of the heart. And assuredly, the film is a successful comedy, and as in all such films, one has to overlook the glitches in the storyline, not ask to be convinced about plot sequencing, and just relax and enjoy the fun. Haaye Mera Dil (1968) is production under the banner of Manohar Films, Bombay, directed by apparently a duo of directors Ved-Madan (that is how the name appears in the credits). The music is by Usha Khanna, and the lyrics are shared amongst Anand Bakshi, SH Behari and PL Santoshi. The star line up includes Kishore Kumar, Kumkum, IS Johar, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri, Majnu, Raj Mehra, Lakshmi Chhaayaa.

“Baaton Baaton Mein” (1979) is a movie that was not about superhuman characters, but about average day to day characters like you and me. “Teasing” songs where the hero teases the heroine while singing a roadside Romeo genre of song is not quite my cup of tea, especially when the hero is someone like Rajendra Kumar. But I am prepared to condone such teasing when the hero is someone like Shammi Kapoor or Kishore Kumar. Who said that I am impartial in my likings of actors. 😀 Yes,I am objective and impartial in my likings only when it comes to singers, not actors. 🙂
