Roothe roothe piyaa manaaun kaise

I have mentioned it in my previous post that I am at present visually hamstrung. I am unable to see what I am typing since I have forgotten my glasses at home. There are terms like touch typing, typing with two fingers etc, and I suppose I can add another term, viz typing by guesswork as well. I can barely see the letters on the keyboard but I am an experienced keyboard warrior and so my fingers tend to move to the correct keys almost like second nature. So I hope that I am typing correctly without too many typos.

Most Hindi movies (and Indian movies of other languages) are nealy three hours long. Movies of other countries are shorter in duration in comparison.

Tera jogi aayaa

“Mera Jeewan” (1976) is a “recent” movie by the standards of this blog. This movie was no great shakes at the box office, but its title song, viz Mera jeewan kuchh kaam na aaya was quite popular during its time, so much so that other songs of this movie were overshadowed as a result.

The first time Ravindra Jain worked with Kishore Kumar was in “Chor machaaye shor”. What songs Kishore Kumar sang in that movie ! “Le jaayenge, le jaayenge” became an icon of an icon song and helped many careers. One was the career of Shashi Kapoor who capitalised on it by signing movies indiscriminately.

Rajshri Productions movies of 1970s tended to have their music ( as well as lyrics) by Ravindra Jain, till Ram Laxman took over in 1980s. In that respect, “Uljhan”, a 1975 Rajshri Productions movie was an exception. Its music was composed by Kalyanji Anandji whereas M G Hashmat was the lyricist.
