20th September was the birthday of Mahesh Bhatt. I knew there are numerous films with very good significant song in them produced and directed by Mahesh Bhatt which are not posted and some of these movies are yet to make an appearance in the blog. But it sometimes happens that what is easily available and do-able, never gets done and I neglected a few post, like the post for Hasrat Jaipuri during last week. Peevesie’s mom post of the Hinglish song from “Ham hain raahi pyaar ke” has encouraged me to do a post for this day.

Remembering Rishi Kapoor on his 68th Birth anniversary :
A journey started on 4th September, 1952. Rishi Kapoor’s life journey through his histrionics in tinsel town, starting with his father’s epic “Mera naam joker”, to the chocolate boy in ‘Bobby’ to the authentic Majnoo in “Laila Majnu” to the slick tycoon in “ Yeh Wada raha”, via the semi-villain in ‘Hum kisi se kam nahi”, with a heart of gold, no less. The hapless husband of ‘‘Damini” , the sacrificing lover boy of ‘Chaandni”, mark the fulfilling journey and career of a shining star with the a extra twinkle in the eyes. The nick name Chintu Kapoor suited him. And great things do come in small packages, or so I have heard.

Today (4 may 2020) is a day when no notable HFM personality was born. But on this day, one person totally unconnected with HFM was born in a far away land 365 years ago. He would invent a musical instrument that has played a vital role in the development of HFM. Movies of 1950s and 1960s were not complete if this instrument did not appear in at least in one song. In one movie, this instrument has even appeared in four songs !

Today (13 november 2019) is the birthday of Juhi Chaawla (DoB 13 november 1967).
Juhi Chawla, alongwith the likes of Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi, Jayaprada etc was from my generation viz born in 1960s). 🙂
Indian actresses holding their own in inernational beauty pageants and they going on to become popular matinee idols was not all that common those days. Juhi Chawla became Femina Miss India in 1984. She then participated in Miss Universe competition, winning the best costume award there.

hullo to all of Atuldom
Yesterday (13 august 2019) was the birth anniversary of our dear Sridevi, hailed as the first female superstar of Bollywood. I was not liking it that we had let it go without a post. Then last thing before I switched off for the day, I saw a song on some satellite channel and had my ‘eureka’ moment. I found a song from the later period of Sridevi’s career when she had started experimenting with the characters she played.

Hullo to all Atulites
Today’s birthday girl was a Miss India winner in the year when my family got a TV for the first time ever. Prior to that whatever I have seen on TV (read Doordarshan) was either in other people’s houses or my chachu’s home. (As I have previously mentioned on many occasions. Those days nobody minded other people’s kids or adults too for that matter, coming in to see TV) I remember having got used to seeing the live relay of the Republic day parades, Filmfare Awards Nites, test matches, Wimbledon and opening ceremonies of Olympics or Asiad etc. They had a different charm to them specially when there would be no repeat telecasts and we used to either wake up early or sit up late to see live relays of overseas events.
