The year 1945 saw the release of two films which had songs by Mukesh. The films are ‘Moorti’ and ‘Pehli Nazar’. The latter, of course, is the film that set Mukesh on the path of stardom as a singer. Let us first talk about ‘Moorti’.

“Apna Paraaya” (1942) is an old and obscure movie. The only thing that I am able to find out about this movie is that it was directed by Ramchandra Thakur and that it had Hansa Wadkar as one of the actors. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie.

“Sansaar” (1951) was a Gemini Pictures Production. This movie was a remake of their own Tamil and Telugu movies, both called “Samsaaram”. “Sansaar”(1951) was directed by S S Vasan and the starcast consisted of Ishwarlal, M. K. Radha, Vanaja, Mohana, Agha, Meera, J. S. Kashyap, Anil Kumar, Kalla, Ratnappa, Pushpavalli, Swaraj, David Abraham. From the cast, it is seen that most characters of the original South Indian language movie were used in the Hindi version too.

Hansraj Behl made his composing debut in Hindi films, in the year 1946. As per records, his first film released is ‘Pujaari’ (1946). In the same year, two more films were also released with music composed by him. these are ‘Phulwaari’ and ‘Gvaalan’. Rare films in their own rights, and very little is known about them. This delightful song is from the film ‘Gvaalan’, sung by Zohrabai Ambaalewaali (or Zohrabai Ambaalaa).
