Hullo Atuldom
Anand Bakshi …. a poet & lyricist who was nominated for the Filmfare Best Lyricist award 40 times that resulted in 4 wins. Poetry writing was a hobby for him in his younger days which became an occasional activity after he joined the Indian Navy due to paucity of time. He came to Bombay to try his luck at writing songs and singing for films. He got his first break in a Bhagwan Dada starrer in 1958; from then he kept getting to write songs every year.

In this post we are going to listen to a song from the movie ‘Samaadhi-1972’.
This song seems to be excluded from the movie after its release. One comment on the link of this song suggests ‘this song was there when the movie was released initially’. And this comment also mentions that this song is shown as the ‘naach-gaana’ or ‘party song’ at the ‘dacoits’ head quarters’ or at the ‘addaa of the daaku giroh’ 🙂

This movie, described as a “social” movie in HFGK had Ashok Kumar, Rehana Sultan, Nikhilesh, Deven Verma, Keshto Mukherji, Subroto, Ashoo, Pinchoo Kapoor, Leela Mishra, Paul Sharma, Jal Parvez, Helen etc in it. The movie also had lots of “new discoveries” viz Saajan, Kailash Sharma, Sameena, Master Ashwin and Master Ramesh.

Few months back when I was travelling to my work place I got to listen to a program on a famous Radio FM channel. In This program, the anchor talks about the some special ‘characters’ from movies and the actors performing these characters, and the impact such characters have on the audience. That day this program talked about two special characters i.e. ‘Mogambo’ of ‘Mr. India-1987’ and ‘Jaykant Shikre’ of ‘Singham-2011’.
