Raja of Jhumri Tilayya, oops, Holland, keeps wondering why I did not post this song, and whether I did not like this song. Rest assured , Raja, I like all songs of Shammi Kapoor, or for that matter, songs picturised on any other actors, and there is no way I would not have liked this song.

Here is a duet sung by Talat Mahmood and Lata. The typical quivering voice of Talat Mahmood on Sunil Dutt may sound a bit odd now, but this did not stop this song from becoming very popular. Lata sings for Asha Parekh, then a newcomer. This song is composed by Salil Chowdhary, and the lyricist Rajinder Krishan came up with very nice and hummable lyrics.

It is a kind of song that provides your brain with a sort of mental massage to your soul when you decide to listen to it. Talat Mahmood’s voice had that soft silken quality. These kinds of song do not rely upon its picturisation to win you over. The voice is enough to do that. In the past 56 odd years that this song is in existence, it has built up a solid fan base for itself.

The movie ” Miss Mary” is a valuable gem that has been forgotten with the passage of time. I cannot believe that this movie is now 51 years old ! It means that almost everyone associated with this movie is no longer with us.

After watching every song of “Johny Mera Naam”, I have described that song as the best song in the movie, only to say the same thing about the next song from the movie. I have already posted a few songs from this movie ( two to be precise) and just about every song is so wonderful to listen to and watch. A fresh as lily Hema and a dashing Dev Saab made quite an impression in this movie, especially in the songs.

I read many times that Bollywood movies would have songs where the boy and girl would be shown singing songs running around trees. Honestly, I have not seen any proper song fulfilling this description. On the other hand, I have seen dozens of songs where boy and girl are shown singing elsewhere, viz on car, boat, train etc. In fact, there are enough number of such songs for me to open tags like “car” song, “boat” song etc. So far I have not felt the need of having a tag for “tree ” songs, that is how elusive such songs are.
