1980 was the decade when I started losing track of bollywood movies and its songs. Gone was the meticulous record keeping of songs etc. Songs and movies in that decade passed like a blur before my eyes, without registering much in my brain.

This song is the title song of the movie called “Badalte Rishtey”. And this song also happens to be perhaps the best known and most popular song from this movie. This song is picturised in a typical Reena Roy fashion, viz it is a song sung by her in a party/ get together, just like Dharmendra used to do in 1960s.Rishi Kapoor and later Jeetendra also join her in singing this song.

Ek haseena thi ek deewaana thha

“Karz” of 1980 was a musical blockbuster. Though many fans were not aware about it, but most tunes in that movie were lifted from western tunes, including the most popular ” meri umar ke nauzawaanon”. Of course, all that plagiarism did not affect the popularity of Bollywood songs of this , or any other movies, in any ways.

Yash Chopra had made a nice and different kind of movie called “Doosra Aadmi” in 1977. Rakhi had played the central character, whereas Shashi Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor played the two men in her life. It was a daring and controversial topic for a movie in those days, where Rakhi, whose boyfriend Shashi Kapoor dies, take up a job in Rishi Kapoor’s firm because he resembles Shashi and she sees Shashi in Rishi and wants to own him, even though Rishi ( much younger to her) is already married.

Kishore Kumar, Majrooh Sultanpuri and R D Burman excel in this song belonging to an eminently forgettable movie. Movie may be forgettable, but the song is such a nice one that you can listen to it many times over, without feeling bored, if you have the taste for such songs.
