Today’s song is from the 1974 movie ‘Hawas’. This movie is mostly known by its song “Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakkhenge Kadam“. I remember that this song was frequently played on radio and loud speakers in those years. And I too associate this movie only with this song and had never tried to listen to the other songs of this movie. And yes, I never get to watch this movie until now.

This date happens to be Akshay Tritiya.
According to a whatsapp message shared in our WA group, it is on this day that Satyug and Treta Yug started. Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, appeared on earth on this day. The gates pf Badrinath open today. River Ganga , as a result of Bhagirath’s tapasya, arrived on earth on this day. The war of Mahabharat ended today and with that the Dwapar yug came to an end.
What an important day our 4300th day in the blog has turned out to be. 🙂 Is it a coincidence ? People who are familiar with the various incidents involving the blog will know that some higher forces are guiding the blog and we are just the means.

Hullo Atuldom
24th November 2019 is the 75th birthday of Amol Palekar – the actor who played a common man or the boy next door character so convincingly that it jolted the audience when they saw him play a cold-blooded murderer in Vinod Chopra’s “Khamosh” (1985). He played a similar grey-shaded character in “Teesra Kaun” (1994) and “Aanchal” (1980). So, it is not as if he always stuttered in front of a strict boss as in “Golmaal” (1979), “Damaad” (1978), a person who is hyper worried that he will die of some grave illness, leaving his beautiful young wife grieving – “Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi” (1979) etc.

There are some very special memories related to this song. Memories of certain flights of fancy, associated with the expressions and emotions contained here in.
Greetings to Usha Khanna ji, on her 78th birthday today (7th October). It is sixty years now that she made her debut as a music director, way back in 1959 – ‘Dil Deke Dekho’, a film by Filmalya’s Sashadher Mukherjee. She recounts with a glee now, but then she was very nervous. Of course, just seventeen, recently out of school, and so miraculously given a break for a big name Shammi Kapoor starrer film. The first song recorded was “Megha Re Boley. . .”. She walked into the recording studio with Sonik, who was the arranger for that film. She recalls that some musicians actually whistled at her as she made her way toward the group. And then Sonik told them that she is the music director. Quite a silence of disbelief followed.
