Alphabetical list of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice- Part XVII
(Actresses whose name begin with the letter S)
In the first fifteen episodes of the series, we listed actresses whose names begin with the first seventeen letters of the alphabet (A to R) and who had lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. There were no actresses whose names begin with O and Q so there were no acresses with the letter O and Q who lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. So we skipped the letter O and Q and moved on the the next letters viz P and R.
In this episode we take take up the next letter S. Unlike the above mentioned letters with zero actresses, the letter S throws up the highest number of actresses, including highest number of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog.
Here we will list all these actresses whose names begin with S and who have lip synced in Asha Bhosle’s voice in the blog. It is going to be a big list, the biggest list than any that we have showcased in the past in this series. Then we will cover an actress (whose name begins with S) lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice for the first time in the blog.
The “new” actresses who made their debuts in the blog (as far as lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice is concerned) in the earlier posts of this series were Anju Mahendru, Bhanupriya,Chandrakala,Divya Bharati, Ekta,Farheen,Gulnar Irani,Harsha Mehra,Isha Koppikar,Jasmine,Khushboo, Laila,Madhavi, Namita Chandra, Pratibha Sinha and Roshni (aka Rashmi Chauhan).
I have counted over 50 actresses whose names begin with S and who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. The list includes some famous names, as we will lesser known names. Some of these names could cause Same Name confusion.

We observe that as many as 64 actresses whose names begin with S have lip synced in the blog in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. This count may even go up as I may have missed mentioning some names.
Regulars will also notice that Sadanand Kamath jee too has been introducing lots of “new” actresses who had not lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the past. In the process, he has introduced several “S” actresses to the blog in the last few weeks after this series started. He would also check up with me if I wanted to use one of these actresses for this series. I thought I had many “S” actresses available with me to chose from, but when I finally came round to this episode, I realised that I had begun to run out of “S” actresses, so I thought that I should present this episode immediately otherwise I may not have any more actresses left to be covered. 😀 Even today, Sadanand Kamath jee has introduced a “new” S actress (Shoma Anand) to the blog. In fact, the last few S actresses in the above table have been introduced by him in the recent past.😀
I took stock of the “S” actresses that are still eligible for discussion. I found that the Asha Bhonsle songs for most of these actresses were often not of acceptable standards, they were either chaalu type songs or somewhat poorish in quality for one reason or the other. So after some delibataion, I have finalised a song that appears of acceptable standard to me.
This song is from “Pyaar Ka Saaya”(1991). “Pyaar Ka Saaya”(1991) was a typical 1990s love story movie with newcomers in lead roles. These movies tyically had music by Nadeem Shrawan and the hero would lip sync in Kumar Sanu’s voice.
“Pyaar Ka Saaya”(1991) was produced by B Subhash and directed by Vinod K Verma. The movie had Rahul Roy, Sheeba, Amrita Singh, Mohnish Bahl, Avtar Gill, Brij Gopal, Anant Mahadevan etc. in it.
When I was checking up the videos of songs of this movie, I immediately realised that this movie shamelessly copied the content of Hollywood movie “Ghost”(1990) that I had watched in Secunderabad where I was based at that time.
In this movie “Pyaar Ka Saaya”(1991), Asha Bhonsle has just one song, a duet with Kumar Sanu. This song also has a male solo version sung by Kumar Sanu. This multiple version song is the title song cum theme song of the movie as the phrase “Pyaar Ka Saaya” figures in the lyrics of the song at several places.
This song is lip synced by Sheeba and Rahul Roy. Sheeba is the “S” letter actress who, in this post gets introduced to the blog while lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. She in fact makes her debut in the blog with this song. The movie “Pyaar Ka Saaya”(1991) also makes its debut in the blog with this song.
This letter “S” is the most prolific letter of the alphabet for this series. Subsequent letters will yield far less number of actresses. Nevertheless, I do have some actresses available for most of the remaining letters of the alphabet.
For now, let us savour this multiple version song from “Pyaar Ka Saaya”(1991).

Sheeba was born Sheeba Agarwal. She made her debut in films through Tamil cinema. Her 1st Hindi film was “Yeh Aag Kab Bujhegi” where she played Sunil Dutt’s daughter. The film was also directed by Sunil Dutt. She married Akashdeep, who was an actor at that time, son of filmmaker Manmohan Sabir, of the late 1950s to the 1990s. Sheeba and Akashdeep themselves turned filmmakers of films & TV series. The couple are also seen regularly in front of the camera.

Atul ji,
While covering Asha Bhosle’s songs with actresses of ‘S’, I had kept 2-3 songs in reserves to be available to you out of which the link of one song lip synced by Sonali Bendre was already messaged to you which is a Sufi song. In addition, there are a couple of more songs. I will cover these songs in the next few days.
