The film was produced by Ashok Kumar, under his own banner Ashok Kumar productions, Bombay. As expected in those days, the film’s director was Vasant Joglekar and the Music Director was Arun Kumar Mukherjee. He was Ashok Kumar’s cousin (their mothers were sisters). The cast was Ashok Kumar, Usha Kiran, Shashikala, Anup Kumar, Agha, Nazir hussain, leela Mishra, Iftikhar, Sumati Gupte, Aroop Kumar (son of Ashok Kumar) and others. There were 2 Guest artistes – S.N.Banerjee and Dhumal. The film’s songs were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

Simi Garewal – a lady who has very beautiful hair, posture, elegance etc. was born on 17th October – turns a year older today. She played a teacher to a teenager Rishi Kapoor in ‘Mera Naam Joker’ (1970) and is Manoj Kumar’s fiance too. Three years later, she played Amitabh Bachchan’s friend in ‘Namak Haraam’ (1973) when that character needed an emotional support when he felt betrayed by his best friend. Yes, we all have seen folks in our families, in friend circles, in the group of acquaintances. Folks who have arrived at the 90th milestone, and continue. Sometimes those impressions are not so palatable. Sometimes the physical bodies, and sometimes even the spirit, is so tenuous and vulnerable. Yes, it is wonder to be at 90, and beyond. Today’s song is from a C grade costume film ‘Aan Baan’ (1956).
I was in two minds while searching for songs of this film on YouTube. Firstly, whenever I tried to find a song of this film, invariably YouTube presented songs from the film ‘Aan Baan’ made in 1972. After getting tired of this behaviour of YT, I got an idea and I asked for songs from ‘Aan Baan’ (1972). Lo and behold ! YT promptly gave me songs from ‘Aan Baan’ (1956) ! I was in a fix whether to pat my back for this idea or to curse YT for its dumbness.
