This song from “Udan Khatola” should have been an “udan Khatola” song, but I find that it is just a “boat” song. The boatwoman ( who is she ?) is required to carry Dilip Kumar and Nimmi to the other bank of the river and she states that her song should enable the duo reach there safely.

In my younger days, when one talked about movies like “Adalat”, “Parvarish” etc, I was reminded about movies of 1970s with these names and featuring Amitabh Bachchan, and the movies of 1958 with the same names were boring in my view.

I stumbled upon this song from a forgotten movie called “Aulaad”. What a song for nostalgia buffs this turns out to be ! This song is sung by Rafi under the music direction of Chitragupta ( father of Anand Milind) and Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.

Has anyone heard of this movie called “Dil Aur Mohabbat” ? I had not. But when I started digging, I found that it was a movie released in 1968 where Joy Mukherjee and Sharmila Tagore had played the main roles.

Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz star in this movie. Rajesh Khanna in fact has a double role in this movie.This movie was released in 1970 when everything that Rajesh Khanna touched turned to gold.

1968, the titanium year of Bollywood movie music had so many great songs that a sizeable number of such songs struggled to get into the popularity bandwagon. Many great songs found themselves forgotten without getting the chance to be heard by the audience.

I read many times that Bollywood movies would have songs where the boy and girl would be shown singing songs running around trees. Honestly, I have not seen any proper song fulfilling this description. On the other hand, I have seen dozens of songs where boy and girl are shown singing elsewhere, viz on car, boat, train etc. In fact, there are enough number of such songs for me to open tags like “car” song, “boat” song etc. So far I have not felt the need of having a tag for “tree ” songs, that is how elusive such songs are.

These days, movie makers spend huge amounts trying to promote their movies, and still there is no guarantee that their promotions have any effect at the box office. All the songs and dances shown in these promos are often ineffective.
