Hullo Atuldom

The song with this post is from ‘Kaho Na…Pyar Hai’, a movie that was released on 14th January 2000. It is produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan. “Naiyya”(1979) was directed by Prashant Nanda for Chanda Pictures, Bombay. I became aware of this fact when I discussed the earlier songs from this movie. Initially I was under the impression that this movie was a Rajshree Productions movie and once again I reverted back to the same impression with passage of time 🙂

It is nearly 11 PM Today (27 december 2017)and no post has been made so far, thus threatening a proud record running into hundreds of days when there was no interruption of days as far as posting at least one write up was concerned. I have been travelling for the last 30 hours, and I had thought that I would be able to post during day time. But I found that my dongle did not get enough strength of signal and so I could not log on to internet.

Today’s song is from a well known film ‘Baadbaan’ (1954). Well known for the simple reason that this was the last film coming from a one-time giant film studio Bombay Talkies. it was the last ditch effort of all the well wishers and workers of Bombay Talkies to save the company from closing down. Unfortunately the effort did not succeed and it was curtains for Bombay Talkies with this movie.

Today’s song is from the landmark film ‘Amar Jyoti’ (1936), made by the Prabhat Film company, Poona. It was directed by V Shantaram. It was photographed by his elder brother V Avadhoot and the music was by Master Krishnarao Phulambrikar. All the songs were written by Pandit Narottam Vyas. Today’s song is sung by Vasanti and chorus. The song is also used as a background song few times in the movie since it conveys the essence of the film’s theme- fight against injustice.

Sajjaad Hussain – a name that invokes a feeling of rare and precious stones. Treasures that are scarce, and extremely hard to come by. Treasures that are small in numbers to start with anyway. And treasures that are extremely valuable, like diamonds of unusual and endearing qualities. Diamonds imbued with qualities that invoke surprise in how the emotions blend with the words, that blend into the music, that is breathtaking at times. Treasures always number very few. Songs composed by Sajjaad Sb are such precious treasures, discoveries of the remaining few of which is always a titillating celebration for the aficionados.
