Three posts in three days! That’s the upside of being restricted to bed. Yes, you have heard it right – I have been restricted to being on bed or a recliner following a major reconstructive orthopaedic surgery to both my feet last week.
So, the current routine is to get up in the morning, and after having a cup of tea, sit down on the recliner with both my feet up in the air, and write a post on some of the rare hindi film songs which have made a place in my heart. These rare songs give me the maximum pleasure and help in alleviating my neuropathic pain to some extent.

It so happens that you have a song in your playlist which you enjoy for the fast pace at which it plays. You start an invisible dance to its beats and shake your legs to its amazing music.
One such song is today’s song which I present to you all. The song is from a 1973 movie Rickshawala, which is a remake of a Tamil movie “Rickshawkaran”, which starred the superstar of Tamil Cinema M G Ramachandran. Rickshawkaran was released on 29 May 1971. It was a major commercial success, with a theatrical run of over 100 days. MGR was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor for this movie.

# R.D. Burman – Music from ‘The 1970s’# (Darling Darling-1977)
——————————————-———————————
With this post we go back to the ‘decade of ‘seventies’. Of late very few songs from the ‘seventies’ have been posted on the blog. We are still a long way off from the estimated eight thousand songs that were created in this decade, so far, only 2834 songs from 1970s have been posted on the blog. On personal front,I also have many songs from this decade lined up to be present here. All these days I was listening to and enjoying songs on ‘radio’ every morning and evening while travelling to workplace and returning back to home.

‘Saaz aur Sanam’ (1971) was the last feature film under the Wadia Movietone banner. It was also the last film for J B H Wadia as a director. The film’s shooting started in 1970 with then newcomers, Pramendra and Rekha in the lead. The other cast in the film included Suresh Chatwal, Poornima, Sapru, Ratan Kumar, Bhramachari, Master Bhagwan, Asit Sen and Arvind (debut). Rajni Bala made a guest appearance. The film was partly shot in Goa just a few years after India took over the territory from Portugal. It is said that J.B.H. Wadia had promised a teenager Rekha that he would introduced her in Hindi films. He kept his promise with this film. However, Rekha signed her the first Hindi film, ‘Saawan Bhaadon’ (1970).

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
———————————————————————
The song being discussed in this article is from the movie ‘Golden Eyes-1968’. It was a movie belonging to the genre of ‘spy thriller’.
I was under the impression that ‘jasoosee’ movie is a ‘detective’ movie. ‘Detective’ and ‘spy’ appear synonymous, but now I have learnt that there is a difference in their purpose and ‘modus operandi’.:) I think ‘spying’ is more correct word here. 🙂 I had always liked to watch movies of this genre. During my childhood days I used to read and like the detective stories of ‘Inspector Dhananjay’ written by Baburao Arnalkar very much. (Interested readers can read more about him in this article written by our respected In-house Encyclopedia Shri Arunkumar ji on the blog.

A couple of years back, I had written for the Blog, articles on a few of Hindi film dancers/character actress which included Mohana Cabral, Naaz, Minoo Mumtaz, Heera Sawant, Sheila Vaz, Rani and Jeevankala. In this article, I take up for writing on one of the prominent dancers of Hindi films during 1970s and 1980s who also did supporting roles of varying types. The dancer/actor is Jayshree Talpade, popularly known as Jayshree T. I had watched her the first time in the film, ‘Chanda Aur Bijli’ (1969). This was the period and another couple of years more when I was active in watching Hindi films in the theatres, preferably during the first week of the release of the films and almost every weekends. After watching her dance performances in about a dozen films in 1970-72 with bits of supporting roles, I can say that just as Helen was a successor to Cuckoo, so is Jayshree T a successor to Helen. Interestingly, Jayshree T and her elder sister, Meena T had no intention of working in the films as none of their family members were connected with the film industry. How Jayshree T got the entry into Hindi films without much of a struggle is the story that will get unfolded as I discuss her profile.

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
———————————————————————
We cover a Geeta Dutt song in this post. The song is from the movie ‘Aawaaraa Ladki-1967’.
Three songs from this movie have been presented on the blog. While covering one of the songs of this movie, Shri Sudhir ji mentioned that no information was available about the director and cast. While some details of songs were available, lyricist for two songs were not available in the Geet Kosh Vol-IV (1961-1970).

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Remembrance Day- Laxmichhaya)
——————————————-———————————————
Today 09th May’2023 is the ‘remembrance anniversary’ of yesteryears actress and dancer Laxmichhaya.
She was born on 07th January’1948 and she passed away on 09th May’2004.
She had acted in many movies, mainly in role of dancer or club dancer I guess. Though I am not going to list all her movies here, I would like to mention the movie ‘Mera Gaaon Mera Desh-1971’ in which I likde her role the most and it has been my favorite movie too.
