“Bada Kabutar” is an action-comedy film directed and produced by Deven Verma, who also stars in the lead role. The film features a notable cast including Ashok Kumar, Rehana Sultan, Deven Verma, Keshto Mukherji, Subroto, Ashoo, Pinchoo Kapoor, Leela Mishra, Paul Sharma, Jal Parvez, Helen etc in it. The movie also had lots of “new discoveries” viz Nikhilesh, Saajan, Kailash Sharma, Sameena, Master Ashwin and Master Ramesh.

Remembering today, the music director, Chitragupt on his 34th Remembrance Day.

Chitragupt Shrivastava (16/11/1917 – 12/01/1991) was a double post-graduate in Economics and Journalism. He got a job as a lecturer in Patna University. His elder brother, Braj Nandan ‘Azaad’ was a freedom fighter who was also the editor of ‘Indian Nation’ and its Hindi counterpart, ‘Aryavrata’. Besides, he was also a percussionist as a hobby. Chitragupt was also interested in music and had undergone basic training in Hindustani classical music.

Continuing our series on some rarely heard songs of Asha Bhosle, we come to this beauty from Gehri Chaal 1973. About eight years ago, Peevsie’s Mom Ji, a regular contributor to the blog had introduced this movie with a very popular song “Jaipur ki choli mangwa de re sainyya.”

Now, I get a chance to introduce a solo by Asha Bhosle – Maara, Wade Ne Tere – which is penned by Rajinder Krishan and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
