The 1960s can be considered as the decade of the duos. Three very prominent music director duos led the way from the front in the field of Hindi film music. I am sure all readers will immediately identify them as S-J, L-P, and K-A (Shankar Jaikishan, Laxmikant Pyaarelal, and Kalyan ji Anand ji). “Challenge” (1964) is a movie as obscure as any. This movie was a Movie Centre Production. It was directed by B J Patel. It is not clear who played the lead role in this movie. The sketchy information available about this movie suggest that Ranjan, Chitra, Maruti, Polson, Tiwari, etc figured in this movie.

I became aware of “Puraskaar” (1970) after Memsaab reviewed this movie in her blog. It turns out that the movie is a treasure of great songs. I wonder how I was not aware of this movie when it was released in 1970s, seeing that this movie had music by R D Burman and I, like most music lovers was a big fan of R D Burman’s music.
