Mukesh and his Composers – 6
————————————
Jaidev ! The very name brings to mind some of the most beautiful and melodious creations in our film industry. Sadly, barring a few, the films for which he composed music did not fare well at the box-office. In spite of being a three time national award winner, luck and good fortune eluded him till the very last days of his life in terms of fame, money, happiness, health, marriage and a settled life.

This is a song from film Neelampari-1952. It is a duet of Asha Bhonsle and Geeta Roy, under the baton of composer Khwaja Khursheed Anwar.

Today’s song is perhaps the first ever song of S D Batish that I am discussing here. Not that I avoided his songs or his songs were not good enough for me, but may be all his popular songs were already discussed here by others and I just did not get any of his songs for my purpose. It is purely a coincidence. Actually, I have lot of respect for S D Batish, who did a marvellous job of promoting Indian Music in UK and USA. He is one of the rare people who left the film world, but continued serving the Music by turning a corner in his life.

This is a song from film Madhubala-1950.
Will you be not happy if you get the Cake and eat it too ? Same thing happened whenever Handsome Dev Anand and the most beautiful actress of Hindi films, Madhubala acted together in a film. The audience used to become ecstatic with joy watching their films. No one cared if the story was weak or the music was third grade. What was more important was to see Dev and Madhubala, with a contented heart !
