Chaar Chaand -1953 was one of those non-descript movies which leave no trace behind them, once they go off the screen.
I had not seen this film and I did not get any information about this film anywhere on the net or in any books or magazines. With a star cast of B grade, like Shyama, Suresh, Bhagwan, Shaikh, Majnu, Cuckoo etc, even its production banner was not well known- Fine art films, Bombay.

Today (1 may 2013) is the 94th birth anniversary of Manna Dey. Radio/ TV stations, sites etc must be celebrating this occasion with some of his songs. It is easy for most of them. All they have to do is discuss some of the well known Manna Dey songs from movies like “Zanjeer”, “Upkaar”, “Dil Hi To Hai”, “Anand”, “Mera Naam Joker” etc and that is all. The same well known songs can be used on other similar occasions as well.

This is the Rafi-Lata Duet from Film ‘Sehra” (1963). It is picturized on Sandhya and Prashant. I saw this song for the first time while looking for desert songs in this film. And it is clear from the picturization that it was a precursor to this song in Sangam (1964).
