The star cast included Madhubala, Sunil Dutt, Pran, Sohrab Modi, Ulhas, Raj Mehra, Jagirdar, Asha Parekh, Kamla Lakshman, Vijaylaxmi, Lalita Pawar, Naaz, Chaman Puri, Shivraj, Mukri, Goga Kapoor, Kammo, Daisy Irani etc. This is the only film of Madhubala which was completely shot in color. Goga Kapoor, theatre actor, made his debut with this film.

This was a Minerva Movietone presentation. It was directed by Y.D. Sarpotdar – He was the brother of another director/producer nanasaheb Sarpotdar. He started his career in 1928 with Shri Balaji Films as a Cinematographer. He did 12 Silent films. When the Talkie started, his first film was Jeevan Natak-1935. He did 29 films till his last film – Karodpati-1961. This was the only film he ever directed in his career. The film’s Music Director was Gyan Dutt.

The film was made by Punjab Film Corporation, Bombay. It was owned by Wali Saheb, who was the Lyricist and the director of this film. By the way his wife Mumtaz Shanti was the Heroine in this film. ‘Love And Murder’ (1966) was an obscure film which I came to know very recently due to its couple of pleasing dance songs composed by O P Nayyar. The film was produced by B K Adarsh under his banner, Adarshlok and was directed by Raja Paranjpe. The cast included Ramesh Deo, Jaymala in lead roles, supported by Prithviraj Kapoor, Heeralal, P Kailash, Helen, Kammo, Chandrakant, Asit Sen, Edwina etc. One of the features of this film’s marketing was that the publicity posters of the film contained only the name of producer, director and the music director. The names of even the main actors were not mentioned.

Today (1 March 2025) is the 83rd birthday of Indrani Mukherjee (born on March 01, 1942). I have watched some of her 1960s’ films mostly having pious and graceful roles. She was born in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) in a Bengali Brahmin family. Her father was a doctor and her mother, a housewife. She did her early schooling in Allahabad and completed her high school studies in Kolkata. From her childhood, she was interested in Hindi films.
