The initial line of this song may make people think of the title song from “Geet” (1970) which has similar words, and indeed one will come across that song on google search with these lyrics, but the song under discussion is an entirely different song and this song was created five years earlier than “Geet” (1970).

I have listened to this song many times and liked it, but all this while I had no clue about its details. This is one of those songs that have gone on to get implanted on the psyche of those who grew up listening to this and other songs of those days.

Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs are some of the most loved songs in Bollywood movies. Sometime ago, I had wondered what I was going to do if I run out of these Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs to post. In this blog, I post songs that I categorise into different categories. Among them, there is one artificial category of songs (not yet formalised). These are songs that were very popular in its days during my formative years. I enjoyed these songs a lot without having any clues about their details. After that these songs would be forgotten with time. After a passage of three decades or more, I would stumble upon them one again. And this time, I would get to know these songs better. As far as I and several followers of this blog in my age group are concerned, these songs were immortal songs. As least they will remain so in our psyche.

Nargis and Raj Kapoor had worked together in 14 movies in all. One of the lesser known movies where they worked together is called “Pyaar” (1950). This movie may be lesser known, but it is a trivia buff’s delight. For instance, this is the only movie where Kishore Kumar gave playback for Raj Kapoor.

This is one song that must be as rare a song as they come. Listen to this song and try to judge the people involved in the creation of the song. It is easy to notice that the song is picturised on Dhumal and Tuntun who emerge out of the church after getting married and then immediately burst into this comic song. The song is sung by Rafi and Geeta Dutt.
