It is now been forty one years that she passed away, and all of just 42 years of age. The singer who became a legend in her own lifetime, short as it may have been, just the same as her celebrated spouse. Called the nightingale of the Hindi film music, she brought a completely unique signature voice that she applied to her songs, and left such a wonderful legacy that will surely delight generations upon generations of listeners.

Aah, five years. Five wonderful, glorious years. Five years of rediscovery, five years of getting to know, all so much that we didn’t know – the films, the songs, the people, the times, the circumstances. Five amazing years of finding long lost gems, songs we had heard decades ago on the radio – ah, the exhilaration of meeting someone, whom you never thought you would ever be able to meet again. Today (18 july 2013) is the first death anniversary of Rajesh Khanna (29 december 1942- 18 july 2012). Much have been written about him since late 1960s when he burst into the Hindi movie scene and reigned supreme. Whatever can be said and written about him has been written. Since I have to discuss a Rajesh Khanna song on this occasion, so let me also add some of my observations about Rajesh Khanna, with the full benefit of hindsight.
